Goals

It’s been 3 days since the New Year started and I wonder how many people are looking at their ‘new year’s resolution list’ and starting to panic. I also wonder how many blogs/articles have been written about ‘new year’s resolutions’. I am sure there are too many to count, and this is just another drop in the ocean. It’s only human nature to take a closer look at your life when one year ends and another begins. Almost all of us get that feeling. You know that one when you are sitting around having a drink or two with loved ones then all of a sudden it hits you. What have I done in the last 365 days?

It’s a question that doesn’t have a straight forward answer for anyone. It certainly isn’t an easy question for me to answer.  But in a nutshell, I loved 2013. For some, it may have been unlucky 13, but for me it was the exact opposite.  I made some very positive changes in my life that resulted in making the best of friends, a relationship that couldn’t be more perfect and getting back on track with my career.

I plan to make 2014 an even better year. Like most, I have many hopes and dreams for my life. I don’t necessarily have a time frame on when I want to achieve these goals (i.e. I don’t need to be married with 3 kids by the time I’m 30). I do however have small goals that I want to achieve on a more regular basis. Such as aim for a promotion within 12 months, save money for my O/S trip this year. Every day is an adventure, so why set yourself a whole year’s worth of achievements. Take each day as it comes and celebrate the small triumphs. One of my dearest friends is doing a monthly resolution list! What a great idea. Each month she will set a new goal and concentrate on that only. This seems so much more achievable and ultimately will result in her feeling accomplished, not disheartened at the end of the year.

I hope 2014 is a fabulous year for everyone and of course enjoyed with a little wine between friends!

Cheers!
